Drinks with Chado: Dry January Tea Mocktails
After a busy holiday season you might be looking for some fun, yet healthy drink alternatives that you can enjoy in January. For a large number of people the month of January is “Dry January”. Where one gives up alcohol for the entire month after the endless holiday season parties and celebrations. Here at Chado Tea we have done some research and found two tea-tastic mocktails perfect for this health conscious choice. Using a straight, Chado Special Green tea and our classic White Champagne Raspberry Tea, these cocktails will leave you feeling great all month long!
Green Tea and Basil Mocktail
Ingredients for the Basil Syrup:

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water
-
1 cup basil leaves
Ingredients for the Cocktail:

1 egg white (optional)

2 oz freshly brewed Chado Special Green Tea

¾ oz Basil Syrup
-
¾ oz fresh lemon juice
-
½ oz pineapple juice
-
Basil leaf, for garnish
Basil Syrup Directions:
1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add in the sugar, water, and basil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and allow to simmer for 1 minute.
2. Remove from heat and allow it to steep, covered, for 30 minutes.
3. Using a strainer, strain the mixture into a resealable container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Cocktail Directions:
1.In a cocktail shaker, add ice followed by the egg white (if using), green tea, basil syrup, lemon juice, and pineapple juice.
2.Shake until chilled.
3.Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a basil leaf.
White Champagne Raspberry Mock Sangria
Ingredients:

4 cups cold water
-
1/3 cup pomegranate seeds
-
1 small naval orange
-
1 lime
-
1 6 oz container raspberries
-
1 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
-
2 cups cranberry juice
-
4 fresh rosemary sprigs, garnish
Instructions
- Pour cold water over tea bags in a large pitcher. Allow the tea bags to steep for 6 minutes. Discard the tea bags
- Meanwhile, measure out your pomegranate seeds.
- Slice the orange and lime into thin slices. Wash the raspberries. Place the fruit in the pitcher or individual serving glasses.
- Combine the tea and cranberry juice and pour over the fruit.
- Refrigerate for at least one hour for the fruit to absorb some of the liquid.
- Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig and enjoy!
